Mountain Top

(God has recently called our Church, this Ministry and us personally to a 40 day fast…)

As we embark on our 40 day fast together, I am reminded of a special place that God has created just for us. A place where I feel free from the cares of this world, removed from daily distractions, a place where the Creator of Heaven and Earth sits with me, talks with me, and loves on me. A place called the Mountain top. When God calls us to meet him on the Mountain Top, to often we see it as an uphill climb. One more thing we must conquer just to be in His presence. Sometimes the view from below can seem overwhelming.

Picture now the mountain top from God’s perspective. A beautiful place He has created just for us. A place where we are removed from the earth below and have the undivided attention of our Heavenly Father. A special place, whee can begin to see things from a heavenly perspective.

This past November, while praying for our Session, I received this scripture.   Deuteronomy 10:10-11 (AMP)  And I [Moses] stayed on the mountain, as the first time, forty days and nights, and the Lord listened to me at that time also; the Lord would not destroy you. And the Lord said to me, Arise, journey on before the people, that they may go in and possess the land which I swore to their fathers to give to them.

A few things that stood out to me through this scripture were:
1) When God calls us into His presence, He promises to meet us there.
2) He promises to listen. He hears us! He hears our hearts, our cries, and our desires to be all that He has created us to be.
3) God call us to “Stay on the Mountain” until he says “Arise”.
4) He will direct us to “Possess the Land” that has been given to us. To fulfill that which has been promised and prophesied in our lives and the life of our church.

We are not the first to be called to the Mountain top. Just as God called Moses to return, He has again called us. For the next 40 days we all have the opportunity to have God’s undivided attention, to talk with Him, laugh with Him, cry with Him, and rest our weary heads on His shoulder.

I challenge you today not to see this fast from man’s perspective, but as He sees it, an AMAZING GETAWAY WITH HIM. As I sit with my Heavenly Father on the ridge of mountain, looking out over the vast land below, I am at complete peace, complete rest, I am at home with the one who loves me.
